Health & Wellbeing

We care about the health and wellbeing of our community which is why we are doing as much as we can to help tackle this growing issue.

Your Health Matters

By addressing the factors that protect and create health and wellbeing we believe we can positively impact the health of the people in our community, which is why we do what we do.

Involving and empowering people, particularly disadvantaged groups, is central to us, for both promoting health and reducing health inequalities. We are tackling loneliness and social isolation because we know how damaging it is to our health, both mentally and physically and being cut off from social interaction can affect people of all ages, which is why our programme continuously looks at ways to engage with everyone in our community.

We can contribute to the positive health and wellbeing of our community by:

  • understanding and listening

  • bringing people together to create opportunities and build friendships

  • providing a safe environment for them to talk and receive help and support

  • offering a fun, adaptable and varied program that is enriching and empowering

  • providing access to physical activity in a healthy outdoor environment

  • working in partnership with other organisations and sharing resources

Our Health & Wellbeing Programmes

Emotional Logic

Emotional Logic is a conversational skill, developed by medical professionals, to help people to make sense of their emotions and the positive reasons they are there. The Emotional Logic process gives people hope when they feel stuck, whether it be anxiety, depression, guilt or anger. It helps them feel that they are able to influence the direction their life is heading in by making considered, informed choices.

Emotional Logic can be learned quickly and passed onto others. The method teaches the in-built, useful purposes of unpleasant emotions to help people adjust to change. It helps people to make sense of their feelings and to bring order back into their chaotic emotional world.

People will feel happier, less stressed and better equipped to deal with life’s challenges. Especially now during these challenging and unprecedented times there's a greater need than ever to safeguard people’s mental health and emotional wellbeing. Through Emotional Logic we can train them to be trauma responsive; to understand the trauma they are experiencing and learn to develop personal, values based, solution focussed action plans to help them to move forward. We can help people to adapt to change and improve their mental health through learning the Emotional Logic method.

In the world we now live in, it’s never been more important to find a way to get respite and release and paddlesports are a great way to do this. There are so many benefits from being out on the water and we’ve seen for ourselves how it has improved people’s health and wellbeing.

Kayaking is a fantastic low impact outdoor exercise activity that helps to enrich the mind, body and soul, people feel fully refreshed and ready to tackle life after a good paddle. Being on the water is known to help improve mental health and wellbeing.  Stand Up Paddleboarding is an enjoyable, easy to learn alternative to traditional forms of training. Our Workshops

Our workshops are also a great way to improve health & wellbeing, they provide social interaction in a warm and friendly environment.

Music can facilitate connections, creativity, and expression, supporting self-esteem, identity and independence, often engaging people who are isolated and feeling low.

The advantages of upcycling as a means of recovery are manifold. Crafting allows your mind to be preoccupied. If you are trying to cope with depression, anxiety, PTSD and other psychological disorders, focusing on a craft project keeps the mind distracted from destructive, stressful and obsessive thoughts.

Life skills can have several components depending on the individual’s needs: communication and talking; financial awareness and money management; domestic tasks and personal self-care.
